Continual Expansion & Growth

Dear Friends of FOL,
Time has flown by so quickly since the last edition of our newsletter. I want to assure you that we have not been idle and that our work has continued to expand. Today, we want to briefly update you on our two local projects (School Supply & Grocery Distribution programs) as well as our major international program in Uganda.

Our FOL team paid a visit to our primary school in the village of Ndagga in August 2017. We currently have approximately 240 students attending our school in Uganda. The school is staffed by nine teachers and five non-teaching personnel. We continue to expand and grow to meet the needs of the students, the village, and beyond.
New Dental Equipment for the Clinic
Our 2017 Uganda visit focused on dental services provided by three dentists, including one from Spain. Until this visit, we didn’t have the time or equipment to provide anything other than removing bad teeth. With the purchase of two dental treatment stations and new instruments, including a steam sterilizing unit donated by Dr. Payan from Spain, we are now able to offer more services, including restorative work.
New Sports Equipment for the Students
One of our supporters sponsored a fundraising campaign and donated funds to install soccer goal posts and netball (a sport similar to basketball but without a backboard, mostly played by girls). You can read her story here. While we were there, we hosted a netball and soccer match against our sister school located in Kankoole. This event generated a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and excitement on the part of our students.
School Expansion Plans
Our new school auditorium, which will also serve as a church, is currently being constructed and is slated for completion by the time our team arrives in May 2018. In addition, we are still searching for suitable farming land, which will go a long way toward allowing our school to be self-supporting. In 2019, a secondary school needs to be built. Expanding Outreach to Other Countries
Finally, our medical outreach services, so closely connected with the development of our school in Uganda, are expanding to include surgical services in many countries including Boliva, Guatemala, India, and Kenya. Eventually, FOL may host comprehensive medical/surgical mission projects in various parts of the world where the needs are the greatest.
